ok say I make a quilt now for someone, but it will be a christmas gift. What date would I use- the date I finished it, or Dec?
    What do you do?
    thanks

    If it's Christmas gift, I'll put...Christmas 2009...for example.
If it's just a gift or something I made just for the sake of giving, I'll put the date that it's finished...August 2009.

you could always put both, the date you made it and that it is a gift for "Joe" for Christmas 2009

I always put the date it's finished, and add other information if it's a gift.

I put the finish date and why it is being given. You know, birthday, Christmas, birth of a new baby.

If you're sure you'll give it this Christmas, I would put "Christmas 2009". It's more meaningful to the recipient than the completion date.

I a way, I use both. I am working on one now for my husband for Christmas. On the label I put that information as well as the date that it is completed, which, with any luck should be this week.

I embroider mine and I put

    quilted by
    my name
    year

I use the same design for every one I make that year, then switch designs for the next year. I can tell immediately what year they were made without reading the label that way.

I always put the date that I finished the quilt. Then what it was for like, BD or Christmas, or just because.
