What to do with 5 inch squares?
#1
I have been sewing forever but am new to quilting. The fabric I recently purchased included a lot of 5 inch squares sorted by colors: blues, reds, greens, and yellows, oranges, & browns. What would be a beginner's quilt that could use some or all of these different squares? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

If there is enough of each color you can do a 9 patch. You need 5 of one color and 4 of another for each 9 patch block. Do a search for 9 patch, you will find many pretty quilts done this way.

I have been using mine to make blocks for th Farmer's Wife quilt.
SOmetimes I need two squares of the same fabric so it can be interesting.
Here's a link for a great way to use them.

I had a whole bunch of squares like that and I just counted how many I had then figured out how many rows I coud have,by how many in a row.then just started sewing thwm together in rows, mixed up so hopefully no same colors together.then put the rows together then add a couple of borders, the first one maybe an inch wide the next one 3 inches,it came out really cute
