What do you do when you have a lot of bobbins with bits of thread?

I will usually use it up in some piecing that has some similar color, or at least hue.

This is what I do too! Every spool of thread with the exception of black and white has their own bobbin. I use Bobbin Mates, which are the little blue plastic rods that you stick in the end of your spool of thread to keep your thread and bobbins together. http://www.clotilde.com/detail.html?prod_id=301 I also use the Bobbin Wraps which are little elastic hair ties to keep the bobbins from unwinding. http://www.clotilde.com/detail.html?...riteria=bobbin
Also, thanks for all the great ideas about sandwiching the thread between sheets of water soluable stabilizer and making a "fabric" -- that sounds like fun!! Will have to give it a try.
I think I will be saving if I have 1/2 or more, and use anything less for piecing (unless the thread is real expensive or hard to find).
Thanks for all your suggestions!!!!

This is what I do, too. I've also made 16-patch blocks of same-color squares to use up a specific bobbin color; if I have two bobbins in the same color family, I'll use that for the top thread. The 16-patches go into a bin just for community service quilts; I'll sash and add cornerstone squares.
