What if I use decorator fabric for backing???

I am making a quilt that is all cotton for the top, and then I found that already have this Waverly designer fabric that would be nice for the backing. Have you ever used this?
I don't know the content of the fabric either. I am making some quilt for charity and my plan was to use up my fabrics.

I found a nice Waverly 100% cotton decorator fabric that I really liked also. Since it was just a lap quilt (all-cotton quilt fabric top) I went ahead and machine quilted it. It turned out fine. I washed the lap quilt to take out the chalk marking lines and it came out great. I think if you were planning to hand quilt, the decorator fabric would be too difficult to needle?

unless it is a wall hanging that never gets washed you only want to use a home dec fabric if it can be cared for the same as the rest of the quilt- if you use fabrics that should not be dry cleaned (like cotton) and then mix it with fabric that has to be dry cleaned....hmmmm seems a bit of a problem if it ever needs some cleaning.
having said that- i have used many home dec fabrics even for backs---
i wash them first (regardless of what the label says- if they go through the washer and the dryer and still look good i use them...if they don't come out so good- they get used for some other crafty project....unless i ruined it totally (that's never happened...but i guess it could)

i've used light weight 100% cotton home dec fabric for the quilt on our bed.
it worked great - i did wash everything first before i put the quilt together.
i prefer the slightly heavier weight for making our bedding quilts because i wash them every week.

I do all the time on my charity kids quilts. I was given probably 200 yds or more of 60" wide fabric used for table covering in restruants. I've washed and dried and it wears like iron, does not wrinkle or fade. I have red, green (xmas) and cream colors..It works great for those Christmas quilts and kids primary color quilts.
