I just finished a quilt for my son and soon-to-be-daughter-in-law, and would like suggestions how to make a label for the quilt. What should all be included on the label? I finished the quilt in January, and knew I would not have enough time to quilt it myself, so I had it quilted by a wonderful woman on her long arm machine. I picked it up the day before her bridal shower. I didn't have time to finish the binding, and I really wanted to share it with all of the women at the shower. So I gave it to her with a note saying I will take it back and bind it and return it to her when finished. I am very happy now that it is complete, but want to label it properly. Any suggestions?

I put the name of the quilt, made by.....
Designed by.... (if I know it),
Where made (not complete address, but I usually put Co. Sligo, Ireland)
    and the date.

These are all the details I would like to have if I bought an antique quilt, so I put them there for the owners of my quilts, or future quilters who might one day come across them.

On my labels I put the recipients name, maybe add a special note to it, the month and year it was made, my name, my town and state, and the quilters name. Since I quilt my own quilts, I usually put machine pieced and quilted by ...(my name), but since yours was quilted by a LA'er, you should add her name to the label.

I usually put the name of the quilt and my name and the date it was finished. If it's a gift, I write Merry Christmas to .... or Happy Birthday to .... I recently finished a quilt that my MIL started for my DH and me but passed away before she could finish it. She made one for each of her 8 kids and my DH is the youngest. I promised her I would finish it for her and named it "A Promise Kept". I typed the whole story of the quilt on the computer and printed it on Printed Treasures and then stitched it to the back. I wanted the story to stay with the quilt.
