Watson's mom is right. As the thread is thin, I don't think it will take away from the pattern. You did a beautiful job, by the way, and I'm looking forward to seeing it finished. An all over design would be great. Since it is Lovers Knot, how about something with hearts in it?

Quilting a king size quilt on a DSM can be challenging. Using regular thread, instead of heavier quilting thread will let your quilting create texture without taking center stage. Using a batting that shrinks a little when washed, will create more texture and hide wobbles in your quilting once it is laundered.
You might want to consider using wool batting on your quilt. It's lighter than cotton and breathes.

I have used the variegated blue, pink thread before and it would go beautiful on your quilt top. It is pastel and not bright in color. Of course a lot depends on color used for backing. Beautiful quilt.

I can't offer any help on the quilting because I often take forever deciding how to quilt when I finish a quilt. Your quilt is beautiful. Love the colors you chose for the Lovers Knot. Very impressive for your second quilt. You did an awesome job.

Jeanne S. said what I was thinking. Outline stitching with an off white, a pale pink or a very light blue thread would be lovely on this top. The outline stitching would show off your beautifully pieced blocks.
