    Default What would you do?

I've been asked to make a quilt for an expected Granddaughter. The Grandparents gave me this material with the instructions to 'make it girly'. I thought about using pink and black flannel to make a rag quilt...but that's too easy. Any ideas? What pattern would you use?

Okay that is going to be a challenge to make girly. The penguin fabric should be kept big enough so you can see the images. If it was for a boy you could add the tan and grey blue. Not sure how pink would go with these fabrics.

The only thing I can see is to make a simple pieced quilt and then applique pink flowers on the top with a stem and a few leaves on it. It's not the right fabric for pink.

You could applique a penguin on it and give her a pink bow on the head. Just an idea...

My first thought is to find some light blue lace and place it here and there. It is light blue, right? Gray? How about some white eyelet, here and there? White swirly fleece for the back?

Add some lace to any border you might use. There's always loads of 1-2 even 4 flat laces available.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, just thought, I've purchased some very feminine white on white snowflakes this season. Maybe a girly tonal for sashes or borders or blocks or binding?

2nd thought---------use a bunch of black lace. My 6mo old GD has several black outfits.

I would use gold and white. I love the applique penguin idea!

On another note, where did they get that second fabric?! I need it!!!

I like to put ruffles on little girl quilts.. maybe a light blue ruffle?

I like the BQ2 quilts to use with focus fabrics

I have never attempted applique before, so that's not an option for now. The Grandmother bought the fabric in Pittsburg. Not sure what I'm going to do yet, but pink definitely doesn't work here.
