Missouri Star Quilt has a tutorial on YouTube very similar to the one posted above by charsuewilson. It's called Braided Friendship runner. It might be helpful to watch it being put together in addition to having written instructions. I finally made one yesterday and I'm really happy with how it turned out. It was quick and easy. Whatever you decide to make, enjoy using it.

Personally I like table runners that have a "plain" center so when I put an arrangement or whatever in the middle the "fancy" work is still seen. I hate to spend a lot of time on the center and then put something on top of it and cover it up.

I have bought a lot of fabrics to make table runners for each season for myself and my DD. Now I am going crazy trying to decide from all the beautiful patterns I have collected. There are so many out there, I find a new one every time I pick up a new magazine.

Any block can make a pretty table runner - I like the 8 pointed star, especially when the fabric has a larger print that I can fussy cut, but I also like Contrary Wife and Jacob's Ladder, as the last two blocks can be configured many different ways.

I kind of make my own design for table runners-made 7 of them this season for Christmas presents - not one was the same. Plan to get some Christmas fabric to make more for our local craft and market day in late summer at our local town this year-hope they still have some Christmas fabric left at Hancock Fabrics or JoAnns may I'll try at Mill End Textils that is going out of business-should be some good deals there.

i made one a while back with 3 churn dash blocks alternating the colors and adding 2 borders. simple, fast, but really cute! and i had a lot of fun making a 2 color tumbler with yo yo's on the corners! the ozark star from F & P is going to be my next one.
