What is your fav scrappy pattern?
Spent all day..except for when I was at work for four hrs..reorganizing my 24 containers of fabric. Ended up with three containers of sraps...all diff sizes. What is your fav scrappy pattern? Going to donate the quilts to Quilts of Valor but not red white and blue. All suggestions w/b considered. I'm just too tired to make a decision. Thanks guys!

Go to http://Quiltville.com for some free scrappy quilt patterns. You will use up your scraps pretty quickly and make some gorgeous quilts!

I made my first quilt when I was 16. My Aunt cut up an old sheet into squares and we just started sewing bits and pieces of old clothing to it then when it was full, flipped it upside down and trimmed to the sheet edge. Made for some interesting quilts. I still have two of them. My youngest refuses to let me throw away the one I gave him - we have replaced the backing twice! The fronts too raggedy to fix now. The quilts over 40 years old!

I love love love making string quilts! I got the idea from quiltville and absolutely love doing this pattern. There are no rules, just sew strips to strips (you can use small squares on the ends) and they come out so gorgeous! I like to use fabric foundations, some people like to use paper, it's up to you!

log cabin or string
either one. We started making scrappy Log Cabins years ago for a lady who owned a quilt shop and gave us her scrap fabric. She said, just put ALL the fabrics in together, and it came out great!
The string quilt is one of my miniature ones.
