Tell me your system and your limits. I have 6 very neat "piles" - one of each work in progress, but two of them keep rotating to the bottom of the pile, over and over again. At what point do you stop kidding yourself that you'll finish something? (I also have drawers of UFOs elsewhere in my sewing room, before I had room for this pile "system.") To put it up seems to be a defeat. What do you do?

A WIP becomes an UFO when instead of running to it I run away from it.

Your system sounds something like mine. I have one quilt that needs to be hand quilted(a king size) by the middle of Sept., but I keep putting it off. I've got it started, but it's too hot in FL. to quilt right now. I know my dear girlfriend will be wanting her quilt when we visit, but it may be another time before she gets it.

Know what you are saying. When thr time is right you will do it. Do what you like first.

My UFOs are garments and when the person I was making it for outgrows it. Quilts are always WIPs you never outgrow a quilt ;d

One in the same. When I really hate something and know I won't ever finish it, I pass it on. Recently I had some nicely done star blocks and I decided too many bad memories from that one and did not care for the color combo any longer so I passed the blocks on to a young friend. She took those blocks and made a quilt with them that made them look totally different. She was happy and I was happy!

I want let myself have more than three things started at a time, so I would say all of mine are WIP. I have one I need to sandwich and quilt, will probably do that this weekend, have a Michelle Watts Geranimum started and plan to start a crazy shortcut quilt for a friend for a baby present, hope to have done this week. I am on vacation this week or would not get so much done.
