Mine stay WIPs. I don't let myself start something new until I finish (all the way through the binding) the one I'm working on. Knowing me, I'd never finish anything otherwise! I do sometimes fudge and let my friend quilt them on her longarm if I have time to wait for her to get to them.

I started off having enough self discipline to do this same thing, work on one project clear through. But as time has worn on I've strayed from that and now have several WIP's. I don't think any of them will become UFO's though because I really like each one, I just needed a break and really wanted to start something else. I've put myself under a rule now though that nothing else can be started until the slate is clear again.

I have no limit and my piles are not necessarily neat.

Do you know WHY you keep switching from one to the next? It sounds like you are getting frustrated.

I have been in a position to where I didn't really want to finish a project but I had no good reason not to finish. Sometimes, it is just a matter of sucking it up and getting it done. Anything else is just excuses.

Sometimes I reward myself with a promise of [fill in the blank] as soon as I finish a project.

What works for me are deadlines. Maybe that would work for you too. Sometimes having a specific purpose in mind helps me keep a WIP alive or resurrect a UFO.

Don't give up and don't beat yourself up. My very first quilt is still not finished. (Started in '89)

Okay...... here is what I have done:
I have trouble working something through. I need to have several things going or else I get bored and/or lost my creativity.
When I have something that can NOT get finished (keeps going to the bottom of the pile) I get rid of it. Something inside me knows I'm never going to finish it for one reason or another. Believe it or not it feels good to let it go and I learned something in the process so I don't look at it as a "wasted project."
Most of my WIP get done eventually, unless they are in that bottom I mentioned :)
I've gotten easier on myself over the years. If I'm not enjoying a project I'm not having fun!

I am actually, occasionally, working on WIPs. A UFO is something I have started (maybe in a class, maybe at home) that came to a halt because it was hard...I didn't like it as much as I thought I would...it was out of season, etc and I just put it in a storage tub to finish some other time. At my house, a UFO may actually never see the light of day again.

I'm trying to finish each thing I start BUT I have bought so many fabrics that are calling to me that I don't know which project to start on next. And I keep buying more fabric each time I visit a new quilt shop. (Some would say I'm addicted to fabric. At least I'm not blowing money away at the casino and I'm not eating or drinking when I'm quilting. haha Just finished a Dresden plate block of the month tonight and made it into a wallhanging. (Now I'm going to have a little ice cream .

about 10 minutes after my wip becomes a pain in tne bottom and I realize that this is not working for me. Then it joins the rest in the chair behind the door that has a box on it with several other wip that just didn't do it for me. I have these lofty ideas that the quilt that I am working on is just so gourious in the light of a shot in a magazine then it is on my sewing machine. I will eventually go back and grab one and finish it after cleaning all the spider webs from working and once in a while even when I'm I know it should get done, I covcer it up with something else.
