    thanks for your advice but i could not find a white dot even though i turned the handwheel slowly. i think the link that someone else posted will do the trick as it is very detailed.

    Thanks for finding that website, it was truly appreciated. I will save that incase i have any other problems! that was very detailed and that was not the spot that i was thinking of adding the oil even though i was close! i will have to go out and buy some oil though as they recommended special hook oil and as dont want to damage my machine.. :D

    Blahel that is link for the a CB hook bobbin. The 180 has a rotary hook. Beleive me, I have the 180, and also a 160 with the CB hook. They are two different animals.

    Okay I just went to the link and there is instructions for the 180 on the right. Same as I told you. It's also on page 74 of your instruction manual.

    thanks for all your help and going to all this trouble for me! I checked out the manual and I must have the Downunder Australian version as on page 74 there is the heading thread tension/tutorial/creative consultant! :lol: :lol: The page i am on is page 103 which is the cleaning/maintenance/troubleshooting section..what is on page 103 of your 180 bernina manual?
