I thought I would post a picture, but i don't see it right now. DH bought me 8 of the grey plastic 4 drawer dressers from Walmart. It turns out that the tops pry off and you can stack them, or parts of them. Mine are stacked 2 dressers high. DH suggests that they could be 2 more drawers high. The top 2 drawers are above where I can see in, but them come out easily. The result right now is that I have 32 drawers of very reachable storage, with a fabrics all covered, sorted and protected. I used permanent markers to label most of the drawers, although not those that I expect to change to other uses.

We are planning to move. This was intended as a way to keep things organized in the process. DH dumped my thread cones"temporarily" into one drawer from my thread rack. This is much handier than the rack was, and better for the thread.

Great idea. We are going to move too and I am having trouble packing/storing my sewing/quilting things where I can't get to them.

I have the smaller ones that come 5 and 7 drawers high with wheels. I don't use the wheels and have stacked them higher also. The stack of 7 have thin drawers that I put patterns and small stuff in. It keeps things clean and you can see inside the drawers without opening, so less searching. I really need to get some more, but until I get a bigger house that is out of the question.

I found my picture. When DH got me these things, he pointed out that when the movers put them into my new sewing room, I will be set up and ready to work. That is SOOOO much better than stacks of boxes to sort through.

As you can see, I also have smaller units stacked for other things.

6 units

Cool. Lots better than what I was planning on doing. I think I will have to make a trip to Walmart to see what I can find. of course my road is flooded so bad I don't know if I will be able to get out tomorrow with h to get to my car.

Those look really nice. I love drawers. Hate boxes.

Very nice. I have odds & ends of shelves, but like the closed storage idea better.

Nice. Just so you know I had a lot of my fabric in plastic drawers and totes when I moved. By the time they got to my new home they were busted and a lot of my fabric destroyed.
