I have order the YBR pattern. I know it calls for FQ. But I have found some charm packs I want to use. Is there a way use the charm packs in the YBR. I would like to know before I buy them. Or should I use FQ or yardage.

no- charm packs are 5" squares- the yellow brick road pieces are not square- and are larger than 5"
charms will not work- sorry...unless you want to sew them together and make your bricks pieced.

Maybe you can find yardage in the same fabric line and have your FQ's cut.

you really need to cut all the pieces it calls for just because that is the way the pattern works - you will end up with a couple of extra blocks but none of the pieces are that size (Charm)

Thanks for the info. The charm packs were on sale this week at 40% off. I was going to get them now if they would work.

If you change the size of the cutting, you could miniaturize it....

Well.......... you could use the charms as some of the pieces but a lot of the cuts are larger than 5 inches.

You can also cut this pattern using yardage. I do it all the time as I never buy fat quarters. I have a small drawer full of FQ's that I have received as gifts or prizes but these are often raided by DD. They are pretty but nothing matches so I do better just using my yardage from stash.
