Ninakk, sorry to hear about your losses. It is hard enough for one. I was just thinking about you before I saw your post. Take your time, we understand

[h=5]Well, it's been several hours now since I saved my husband's life. Yes really! We were at TGIF for lunch and he got choked on a piece of steak. He coughed and no sound came out and he acted like he was gagging. I asked him if he was "ok" and he shook his head no. I hit him once between the shoulder blades and he made a little air gasp. I had to actually do the Heimlich on him to get the meat dislodged. It came up and he gasped a deep breath.
The only others people that seemed to notice were a group of teenagers with one mom and I think they freaked out a little. They were finished eating and ready to leave anyway but no one asked what was going on. I was calm and clear while it was happening but once it was over I noticed my hands shaking and felt slightly dizzy. If you don't know how to do the Heimlich or think you'll never need it, think again. Things happen in a blink of an eye and your life could be changed forever. I am extremely thankful I knew what to do and could do it calmly when needed...I hope I never have to do it again but am so thankful my husband is still with me tonight.[/h] |
Moonwork! Thank goodness for your quick action!!!!

Moomwork, Glad you had the wits about you to do what was needed. CPR is another tool we all need to know about. We never know when it can save a life. Thanks for sharing your story and I am so glad it has a happy ending. Phannie

Traveling grandma Thanks you for posting that. I do have it. Yeah. I have updated my list.
Moon.....Thank goodness. I am not surprised that other's did nothing or even noticed. It seems people do not want to get involved now a days. |
OMG...Thank the Lord you knew what to do. I have only practiced this once and hope I am as capable as you were if I ever have to do it for real.

Moonwork, my block is absolutely fantastic...tell Dad that the lady from Texas could not replace your wonderful blocks....no way, no how. By the way, loved the Paducah show. We managed to make it to everything on the list, including the Libby Lehman-Alex Anderson show. I feel so honored to have seen her before she fell ill, although it looks a little more promising for her recovery. Sorry, not to have been able to look you up, but my crew had us on the run from daylight til dark.
