That is a very pretty wall hanging. I think it has my name on it. That is why she won't show it closer. :D

Just saw this thread.Would you make the sq in a sq for center block,or is it easier to do the 1/2 sq triangles? Just wondering.....

LOL if you look behind the pretty design you'll see I cheat! LOL The steps to make them are not complicated and any beginner can make them. It's just a matter of knowing the steps.

The Boston Block - sew two pieces of fabric together. Trim one edge sew on a third piece to the bottom. Cut out hte center with a template and tada!! You have a Boston Block. Make as many you need in the colors you need and sew 6 rows of 6 blocks per row and you have a quilt block!!

I have several shortcut blocks that are not hard todo just have a couple more steps or so.
I also have a couple of other ways to cut this that doesn't have as much leftover fabric. I reuse any leftovers when I use this method so no waste.

Well in my opinion it is easier to do the half square triangles. because if you are making the quilt block with hsts if you use a diff method for hte center then your accuracy may be changed. I find it easier to match hst to hst than to try to get the center cut the correct size to match the hsts that you would be sewing to the center.

when I sew a quilt block like this one together I sew 4 hsts into a 4 patch and then sew the 4 patches together. If you use a dif method for the center your 4 patches may not be the same size.

but it is up to you as to what you find easier to do. there really isn't any wrong way to do it. Just what you prefer.

Hi! Just thought I'd pop in and let you know that life is slowing down just a little and now I can start thinking about getting my wall hanging underway! It'll be a race, of course, but will have it ready to go out by the 28th baring another 'bump in the road of life'. HUGS to all ....can't wait to see who's name I get!

Greetings to everyone! Yes I am still here, haven't posted or been on QB since Mom passed away in December. But slowly getting back to life. I made my first block yesterday and it really did turn out nice. It is a "dancing square". Found the pattern in an old book and it called my name. So I will have my wall hanging done and ready to send unless another emergency comes along.

Happy quilting!

Sorry to hear about your mom's passing Everose. Sending{{ hugs}} your way.

I have my quilt on the frame ready to start quilting this evening when I get back from the grocery. It is raining here, so that will be help the afternoon. Have several movies pick out to watch (listen to) while I stitch. I still hand quilt, just haven't broke down and invested in a long arm and as far as I know there isn't anyone in the area that does it for the public. Guess I could ask at the LQS but just prefer to do it myself.
