Quilts for Quilters Swap OPEN til 15 Dec 2011
#542
I'm heading home today (been gone 3 weeks without my sewing machine
). I can't wait to get back to my projects! and finally get going on my partner's swap quilt---getting a late start as I thought my partner had dropped out--but YEAH she didn't. I was also finishing some UFO's (you can see 3 completed UFO's on my blog!).
I have the fabrics picked out and I've narrowed down the pattern to a couple-so I will decide on the pattern in the new few days (in between cleaning and unpacking the motorhome, tidying the house for a meeting Tuesday night and doing the endless laundry from our trip!!) and then I will get to the cutting and sewing.

Hello fellow quilters. I had three heart attacks, and double bypass surgery, and I lived to tell about!!!!!! Praise be to the Lord!!! They are letting me go home tomorrow and while I'm looking forward to that very much, I am feeling more than a little vulnerable to be over 4 hours from the cardiac team. My many thanks to each of you who sent prayers up on my behalf. May the good Lord bless you.

Yes indeed Rose, Praise be to the Lord Almighty. So glad you are getting to come home. You take care of yourself. Hope someone will be with you until you are ready to be up and moving about.
Good news! I have found some backing fabric for the 30s quilts I am working on for my two other partners. It is so adorable. I just love it so that should be good. It is also a 30s fabric. It was on sale at the LQS and with my discount, was able to save quite a bit. So glad I teach as well.
Hey Jillnjo, my husband still keeps taking my quilt at night. Oh yeah, it is in his sleep of course. I does fit over the top of my bed which makes it even more special. I get to look at it everyday.
Well, it is lunch time here and I better get to making my class samples for my summer classes. Happy quilting till we visit next time.

That is what you said you were going to do with it. This way you get to look at it everyday and just enjoy the freshness of the fabrics. The rose fabric will let your mind just remember how awesome a fresh rose smells. See you can smell the flowers everyday. Thanks for the kudos girl. Now I better get my hinie in gear and get those other two completed. At least they are started and on the road to being done. Next week will be finishing all the cutting for the appliques. I am learning on the log cabin that it is better to cut your length then sew instead of doing it where you just sew your block onto the strip. The cutting seems to keep my block straighter and more square. What are you thoughts? You did such a nice job on ny log cabin blocks, what is your preference?

I have the quilt top pieced and ready to put together. Will take it to the LQS and quilt it using the LA for the first time. I am so excited. Hope to have it all done and in the mail by the first part of May.

Quilter, well, I have never cut my strips to size before sewing. I've always used long strips of cut 2" wide scraps and just pick one up as I go. It hasn't been a problem, I just carefully cut the end of the strip off as it lays right sides together, cutting along the end of the previous strip(after they are sewn together), then I always square up my block-and it's done!

Quilt top done; backing selected and cut (not yet pieced). A bit more "augmenting" to do to the sunbonnet sues. Hope to get to the FMQ this weekend (on my vintage 1976 "Signature" from Montgomery Wards).

Ligia, I am Kristin's aunt and called her and told her not to look. But I know she will love it . I told her it is gorgeous!!!!
The one she is making you is very very pretty. My partner wuv2quilt has medical issues right now. But I have been working on her Baltimore Albumn quilt to give her even though she might not finish mine in time. I just love all my quilting sisters here on this board.
