Wall Hanging Swap July - October 2014

JNCT14. Very nice. I like the baby baby quillow in this pattern and the pop of yellow is so happy.
And a cool pattern for the tree skirt. I like these rosey colors too. And what are those other beauties I see? You need to have a show and tell day!

Haha. Underneath the tree skirt is my grey and pink Dresden Plate quilt which did get a second at Durham Fair this year. Behind the quillow is my WIP using my orphan blocks. I am starting the border which will have a bunch of 2.5" candies from last years swap. I am also going to start that quilt from Sewing with Nancy (I think Jaba posted the link?) She used tshirts but I am thinking applique. I need a hand project.

I went to auction last Saturday and this lady had brand new crayola's in tin cans dated to 1995 They were old but never un-wrapped wish I had bought a couple of them...
Ha I wish I had crayons from 10 years ago! But I use them too fast. However Crayola seems to have a high color/wzx content and they worked well. Each piece was outlined on white faric, then heated. I used the crayon and kept reheating the fabric until I liked what I saw. It took about 3 colors to do each piece. I then used a blanket stitch on my Bernina to applique each piece to the background. I did a tiny meander for the fmq on my Babylok.
I love your Sunbonnet Sue!!!!

JNCT14, I thought I saw that Dresden peeking out from the background. Congratulations on your ribbon. I'll say again how much I like it. Show us another picture, ppllllleeeeaasse!

My wallhanging is (finally) pieced and ready to quilt. I was going to finish it tonight but there I always tomorrow .
I hope to post a picture this weekend.
I sure have enjoyed seeing what everyone is making.

So there is a little girl in our town who has a rare form of cancer. She is on her third round of chemo. The town is holding a district-wide fundraiser at our high school homecoming football game next week (some of you may remember that my DD was a HS cheerleader and squad captain this past year before she graduated in June). Lyla's favorite color is purple. As it turns out, I had received a box of scraps about two years ago from Reginalovesfabric to make comfort dolls and Project Linus quilts. I found this particular top in the box, which had been hand pieced by a member of Regina's church group. It has been hanging on my design wall waiting for inspiration. I backed, batted and birthed it, and I am now in the process of hand quilting it, since it was hand-pieced. Here is the WIP. I just hope I get it done by Wednesday!!! I will take another pic when its done.
