You might be interested in checking out http://www.pattern-file.com/ --it enables you to virtually file and then find all your patterns (I use it for quilting patterns too) on your computer. I then store the actual patterns in plastic file boxes according to company and pattern number. You can do a search for type, brand, or whatever criteria you want and then locate the actual pattern quickly and easily.

I was just thinking, she could have saved herself some steps by just keeping the photos of the patterns on her computer and browsing them that way. I'm going to have to check out your link.

This is a great technique for about 300 - 400 patterns. I don't have near that many and lots of people have way more than that. I don't think I could ever use that many - ever. Thank goodness I never got too involved in making things from patterns. When I was younger I used to sew clothes - but now I just quilt. I probably only have about 40 patterns total, So I am able to keep them all in one drawer - thank goodness.

Most of my patterns are printed from my computer and were free.
I have a file crate that you hang files in. Label each file like blocks, children, holiday etc.
It works for me.
