I love those tables! Are they heirlooms?? They are perfect

Just wait. Your room will be overgrown soon. LOL
That is all you need to create beautiful quilts. Nice set up. When I started, my machine was in the corner of my bedroom. After the children moved out, then I gained a room. Your time will come.

You have a beutiful room. It's a start. Thanks for sharing.

A word about those tables. I ordered them from Lowes.com and had them delivered. They are actually dining tables that go with a corner unit for a breakfast nook type thing with the benches. I did not get the whole setup, just the tables. They look nice, match my bedroom furniture and gives me enough space for now. The chair I purchased at a flea market for next to nothing. I put one of those cutting mats across where the two tables butt against each other and have no problem with that spacing between the tables.

Nice set up. Just you wait......pretty soon you'll be like "Where did all this come from". Great tables!
Nice work space and I like your Brother machine too.
Any little corner you can have for a dedicated sewing room is great. Your set-up looks wonderful!
Looks pretty efficient to me.
Just remember that we all had to start somewhere. Yours may not be big, YET, but give it a little time. Less things to get in the way of the creative process. HaHa!! BTW: I love, love, love the chest you have your fabric & batting in. If you ever decide to get rid of it, I'm first in line for it. Ha!!!

Looks like a great working space.
Love your well planned 'sewing room'. Enjoy
I agree with Granny CheeChee. It will not be long and you will need more storage and space. You will also rearrange the space a million times until you find what works best for you. I have found that a "U" shape works well. I have my machine in front of me and table to my left with a little cutting mat for quick fixes or trims and my ironing board lowered to my seated height to the right. Easy to turn in my chair for a quick press to a seam rather than be up and down the whole time. Have fun and enjoy your space.

Pretty tables and great sewing space.
Very clever!
Looks very n ice and like everyone else-love the tables you have. Looks very neat and a great place to be creative in. Enjoy.
I am enchanted that you have everything (ironing board, cutting area, sewing machine) in one room! I have stuff spread over 3 rooms - not because I have so much, just that I am so unorganized....
Nice set up! Enjoy!

Looks great. I know it looks impressive when you see the post of people that have stashes that would make some small quilt stores look bare but I've found out that it you have too much, especially if you can't display it to see what's there, you end up forgetting what you have and buy more. Since I organized my small room and put all my fabrics on shelves to see I've spent a lot less money on more fabric and can usually find something that will work for what I'm doing. My daughter loves shopping in my sewing room now too.

Thanks everyone for your response. I am fortunate that I do have a large bedroom with plenty of space.
I started small about 11 years ago much like your setup. It worked great, but as the years came and went my sewing room went through quite a few upgrades. I now have 2 rooms.
looks wonderful!! I see you are throwing away the bolt cardboard, you an cut it in half and fold your fabric over it. I use those for yardage cuts!
I started out like that a few years ago. Now I have two sewing rooms.
I love those tables. |
That's a really nice set up. I like the tables for the flow of work. I'm sending you warm wishes for lots of happiness and creativity.
What a nice set up - there are times when I wish I still only needed a small area instead of 1 huge room that is spilling out into every room in the house. And I do mean every room--I needed to change the foot and hand sewing needles -I got them and on my way back to the machine they got lost- 2 hours later I found them setting on the bathroom countertop
Great Setup. You are off to a great start.
Looks like you have all you need. So, whatcha working on? LOL :)
You said it well. I have way more than I need. And spend way to much time looking for a color I know I have. And after I go re-buy it, It turns up. I have got to get my stash organized so I can see at a glance what I have.

What's wonderful is that you have your own space! Soon it will be overflowing with patterns, fabric, projects...I remember when I first started I had to use the kitchen table, oh thank goodness those days are gone.
I love it.

Love the tables they are beautiful and looks like just the right height to sit and sew! looks like you have the start of a beautiful quilt on there too. I think it looks like a nice area. Don't worry about having a small stash. Either you will be like me and turn around and try to figure out where all that came from or be like my DH who chooses to buy only for one project at a time. How every you choose, I hope you enjoy your new area and I think your off to a wonderful start!...
God Bless, Country1 |
Fabrics mate year round so don't be surprised when it keeps growing. You have a very nice start. Lots of web sites have great fabric sales now so go ahead and jump on those sales. SHHHHH! I hear the fabrics mating as I type.
Very nice set up. It looks efficient which I like very much. Great job on creating a cozy space to create!
