Storing GO Dies
 

How do you store your Accuquilt dies? Thanks for the pictures & your ideas!

I will be watching this - I have several of the long strip dies and don't have a good system for storage. I have read that they should be stored flat and not stacked due to the weight possibly damaging the die.

Not flat or stacked but,on their sides - like pieces of toast. The long ones are stored on their long side, not their short side. I need to get a rack for mine - the ines the Go! People carry are ridiculously expensive - a dish rack has been mentioned,

One of the other members here mentioned she hangs hers from peg board -- that is what I have been doing but I do have 2 dish racks that I put my longer strip dies -- I have one rack at each end to provide enough support -- since I am concerned that hanging the long dies may put too much pressure on the small edge of the long dies. The cubes all store the dies vertically.

I have a strong wicker bin that sits on the floor. It's basically a wicker box without a lid about 2' square and tall. I have the dies sitting in it, stacked from shortest to longest. I have written the die information on the end with a Sharpie. I flip through the bin to find the one I need and try to make sure the dies in front remain leaning forward and the ones behind remain leaning back until I replace the die I am using. I haven't found a way that works much better for me. I have many dies and for the last year, it seems pretty efficient.

There is a sticker on the side that says what it is. When I first got my Go I had taken some of the stickers off. Guess I wasn't wearing my glasses to see that they were already labeled. When I want to use it I seem to have to go through all the dyes anyway looking for the correct one.

I don't have a huge collection of dies (about 25 in total) so I store them in a Sterilite bin with locking sides. I can pick up the bin and move it off my shelf when I want to use them and just lock the top and slide it back in when I'm done. The dies can stand up on end in the bin, which is what is recommended (so the foam doesn't get compressed).

I store mine in a metal office file thing by laying them on the side. They keep very well in this position and I bought the metal file holder at a thrift store.

I have mine stored in a rack for folders we had. I also wrote the size on the back so it's easier to get the one I want. Here's a picture of them on a shelf.
