What kind of lighting??

My hubby wants to buy me a light for my quilting room for Christmas - yay! I currently have a few lamps (all on at the same time) that do not light the space very well at night. The brightest one next to my machine is so hot, I feel like I am tanning while I quilt! What kind of light should I get? I've been looking at the Ott lights on sale at JoAnn's. Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I have florescent in/on the ceiling for entire room brightening and an Ott next to my machine, pressing and cutting area for directional lighting. The best of both because you can shut the Otts off that you don't need. Charlie

I really like my ott light and use it for many things as well as sewing. (knitting, handwork, etc.) It works really good and I would certainly recommend one.

I LOVE my Ott lite over my machine and want to get one next to my chair for hand sewing/reading.

I bought a "generic" broad spectrum lite and it is wonderful; from this online store: http://www.firststreetonline.com/Hom...ions/Lighting/

The replacement bulbs are reasonable also.

If you have an overhead fluorescent fixture, you can put the daylight tubes in those and get excellelnt lighting which will give you true colors.

I have two ott lights and love them both for different areas of work...someday i am going to buy the one at joanns that is on a floor stand and has different attachments (magnifier)and can be adjusted for directions lamps work better for me than ceiling fixtures and during the day there is great light from a bay window that is one whole side of the room

The Ott lights are great. If fact JoAnns has them all 50% off thru Dec 24. I'm looking at the flyer now.

I have a floor Ott light behind my sewing/cutting table. Works great. Plenty of light.
This would be my suggestion. They are also suppose to keep colors true, not distort colors like flouresent bulbs.
