NW OR/WA get together!

I'm hosting a get together for those interested in doing a gathering. It is scheduled for January 14 from 1pm-4pm in Beaverton OR. We'll have munchies, show and tell and just visit. PM for address and directions or questions. Pass the word!

3incollege 12-14-2011 03:58 PM

Is that near Grants Pass?

KarenBarnes 12-14-2011 03:59 PM

Near Portland

sew cornie 12-14-2011 04:55 PM

Karen,

Thanks for setting this up. I didn't get on the ball with it. January sounds so far away, but it really is just around the corner. Count me in. I've got it on my calendar!

2 Doods 12-14-2011 07:37 PM

Sounds like fun. I'll be there if I am not snowed in

I will be there barring any weather event.Send me your info please. Cindy

Mad Mimm 12-15-2011 07:09 AM

I wish I could come, but that is my son's birthday. I will be watching out for another meet n' greet in this area - I'd really love to meet some quilters from my neck of the woods! Have fun everyone!

Wine Woman 12-15-2011 07:20 AM

Thanks Karen for getting another one together! Count me in!

marilynr 12-15-2011 07:55 AM

Would love to attend. I live in Beaverton too. Let me know where please.
Marilyn

I would love to come. Please let me know where. I don't know how to PM.

quiltingnonie 12-15-2011 06:35 PM

Karen, you are such a doll! I am having some minor surgery on the 10th, and God willing, I will BE THERE! :)

KarenBarnes 12-15-2011 09:52 PM

Laurie, we'll be thinking positive thoughts for you so you can come! A little prayer won't hurt either!

Laurie I will be thinking of you and hoping everything goes well. Looking forward to seeing you and really hope you can make it.

What do ya'll think about us starting a thread under groups so we can keep up with each other and always have a presents on the new board so if others want to join in our fun they can? That way we would not have to start new threads with each new activity we have?

Lilrain 12-22-2011 11:19 PM

I will do my best to attend. Love the gettogethers

KarenBarnes 12-23-2011 11:09 PM

Cindy, doing a group sounds great but I'm going to let someone else figure out how to do it. I'm doing good just to do the basics here. I hope to get a little more learning time after the holidays.

I haven't checked out the group section of the Board yet but if it will make it easier to keep up with one another, then I'm all for it! Thanks for the suggestion. How do we set it up?

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! My house is a disaster and we didn't even host. Lots of clean-up to do in the next couple of days then back to sewing so I can finish two Christmas gifts that didn't quite get done.

Scotlass 12-26-2011 02:14 PM

Hi Karen, thanks for hosting this gathering! I have it on my calendar and hope the weather is good! Look forward to seeing both olde and new quilting friends.

quiltingnonie 12-26-2011 05:16 PM

I think the group sounds great! Who is the techie here that can set it up? lol It is NOT me! (Although I did manage to set up our group in my email address book)

My Christmas was amazing...all my children, grandchildren, Dad & brothers were together. I will cherish it forever, because who knows when that will happen again. Plus, DH gave me EQ7!! :)

cbridges22 12-26-2011 06:05 PM

I will try to figure it out because I am not techi!I will let you know.

stitchy65 12-26-2011 07:20 PM

I will be there too!! I do have to work that day so I may be a little late getting there. Pray the day goes well so that I can get out on time that day. Karen, please pm the address to me.

Thanks,
Angela

p.s. I hope to have the retirement quilt done before then. The party is on the 21st. Would you all like to see it completed?

LadyElisabeth 12-30-2011 11:07 AM

Since I live in Beaverton, I will try to at least stop by to talk about the public TV QUILTING PROGRAM series. John is producing and I will be the host and I would LOVE TO HAVE ALL OF YOU INVOLVED who live close enough.
Also the open, non juried Centennial Quilt Show at Metzger Saturday, January 28.
I haven't figured out how to write my threads so they don't get removed but I will email Cobalt blue with information.
I look forward to meeting all of you. Do you want a "field trip" on the 14th?

KarenBarnes 12-31-2011 09:24 AM

No field trip for me, just visiting with the quilters that come. Really looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones. Pass the word since I don't think some are getting the notifications for one reason or another.

Lilrain 01-02-2012 01:09 AM

Just got a notification on this thread from quilting board along with about 60-70 others a few minutes ago. Wonder why they come out in batches? Some stuff I had not commented on in weeks.

Will try to bring a project I have bound so all can see my 1 7/8" bindings I have perfected.

dunster 01-05-2012 01:19 PM

Just saw this thread, will definitely try to come.

Anyone in the Albany/Salem area want to carpool? We can meet at a central location and share the drive (and maybe stop in at a quilt store or two on the way home?)

I am definitely a techni - if you have not been able to do this let me know and I'll give it a shot.

dunster 01-05-2012 03:12 PM

Okay, here's the current scoop on groups. I went to the groups section and there was no information on what they do or how to start one. Went to the help section and found an old closed thread where PatriceJ says that at the present time groups are basically useless and they are exploring options on how to fix that. So I sent Patrice a pm asking for the current status. I'll keep you up to date, but as of right now the groups idea isn't going anywhere.

cbridges22 01-05-2012 08:48 PM

I would love to carpool esp. if someone else drives!I would be willing to pay gas.I drive 50-80 miles a day so anytime I can not drive is a good day!

KarenBarnes 01-06-2012 09:33 PM

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone! Faith helped me get a jump start yesterday on organizing my sewing room! My fabric is all folded and organized by color and quantity. I've left the doors off of the cabinets for now because I just want to admire my stash! Now to sort the scraps the same way! My husband actually made the comment that now I had spaces to fill. I can do that! :-)

cbridges22 01-07-2012 08:43 AM

Can't wait to see that stash!

KarenBarnes 01-07-2012 02:27 PM

Cindy, that was part of the motivation!

sew cornie 01-07-2012 06:06 PM

Karen,

Are we doing a fat-quarter swap at this get-together?

KarenBarnes 01-08-2012 05:19 PM

Jen, I think it would be fun to do a fat quarter swap! Get together is this coming Saturday in Beaverton from 1-4pm. Bring a fat quarter to swap, show and tell and if you just must, you may bring munchies! ;) If you still need my address, pm me! I'm excited to see everyone and what they've been doing!

dunster 01-08-2012 05:24 PM

Just an update on the groups thing - Patrice said that they are trying to decide whether to allow the use of groups for those planning get-togethers like this. Maybe next time...

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.

Feathers 01-09-2012 10:12 AM

Hi Karen: I'm really excited about the get-together on Saturday. Can't wait to see all the old-er friends and meet new ones, too. It'll be so fun, as always. If there are any quilters from the Gorge area who would like to carpool, please PM me.

Wine Woman 01-10-2012 06:30 PM

I'm getting so excited to see everyone! I made the comment to Faith I can't wait to talk to someone. I've been stuck in a bathroom for days stripping wallpaper and washing walls then painting. Karen, can't wait to see the stash!

KarenBarnes 01-10-2012 06:44 PM

Cindy, you can stay and do mine, I don't even have wallpaper! :) The stash is now organized and I'm on to the scrap organizing! Hopefully I'll get it done by Saturday. See you and everyone else then!

WilliP 01-10-2012 11:04 PM

Sounds like a fun day, but no way I can go on a day trip anytime soon. I do hope to get to Portland in Feb or March --have a niece to visit and so much to see. LOL There is life at the end of this tunnel!

Sorry you don't have any wallpaper but Faith does! We'll have a stripping party at her house! Oh yea! :) I'll help with painting anytime! I enjoy painting! Such a good workout!

WilliP - how far are you from Oregon or do you live in OR? Rain Country? I think that should be OR or WA!!
