Just my opinion. I think there is not enough purple in the top so I would not use the purple border. I think the black is too dark. I think I would like to see the navy with flowers but without the light aqua edge.

Honestly, I don't like any of those choices... The purple is too bold and the florals compete with the body of the quilt. If you really want a border, I'd use a narrow first border of a tone on tone white that is very similar to the light blocks, to frame the quilt. That border would be cut to maybe 2" wide, to finish at 1 1/2" or narrower. Then add a last border of aqua small print; or if you have any fabric left from any of the medium/dark blocks that are in the quilt, that would be best. I have seen and used many of those prints and I believe some are still availabe at Joanns and Walmart. In my opinion the florals you are showing are way too modern to work with the vintage style fabrics in the blocks, and the purple is just too harsh. If you are careful how you cut it, the larger floral would be great to use for binding. Then just a smidgen would show but would incorporate all the colors. I suggest you start with the light frame, then decide on the next border. Or, if the size is ok, you can just forget borders and bind it in aqua. Its very pretty and should be the star of the show. I hope you will post a pix when you decide. Jan

your quilt is great - and when you added those border wow! it just popped. I don't think I am any help because I can't pick between either of the florals. I don't think the solid is the best choice though.

Please post when you are finished

Wow, it looks great. Love all those half square triangles. I need the inspiration to finish some of my old UFO's.

Ooooh it is beautiful!! I may be channeling my inner flower child but because you have a giant pinwheel, I think the border with the giant flowers is super. But separate it from the main portion with a narrow light coloured border first. Oh I just love this top!

I would go with the smaller flowers and make it a narrow border as the pinwheels within a giant pinwheel should be the center of focus. So glad you kept it, did a redo and it turned out so great!

Very cool idea, I love it. I agree the big flowers take away. I think a solid thin border would work, if you need to make it larger then a second a bit bigger.
