Default 30's Last Minute Thank You

A dear friend opened her home for my daughters Texas wedding reception open house this last Saturday evening. I got a wild hair last Monday to make her a quilt as a Thank You. I'm so glad I did. She and her husband were invaluable arranging their home and helping with food prep and serving.

I had a layer cake of 30's and a wide paisley print I'd been saving to back it. I quartered the florals in the layer cake for the 4patch blocks, highlighting the novelty blocks. I did a free motion leaf with a ruffle around it. I love using a stripe binding. Everything was from my stash actually. She cried when I gave her the quilt.

Beautiful! And done so quickly! I like that your 4-patches are not equal-sized blocks.

What a thoughtful gift for your friend. She will cherish it forever. Your quilting looks fantastic & I like the little stripe binding. It sets the quilt of nicely...like a picture frame.

It's beautiful, Sheri. Love those fabrics. The stripe binding is adorable, too. Well done!

That is really pretty! I love 30's prints and you did them full justice. The simplicity of the pattern really highlights the fabric and quilting. Beautiful work! And so fast!!
