I have to say when I get a quilt like this....( actually I feel this way about every quilt) I feel really special that I get to be a part of something or someone's life even if it is a minute part of quilting a quilt that will be cherished for years to come. They have a beautiful family!
Judy sent me this quilt and it is in celebration for a 50th wedding anniversary.....On a quilt like this I would never consider quilting over the photographs..this is the type of quilt that really needs to be noticed for the quilt ...NOT the quilting..so I used a cream thread to quilt a simple stipple in the lighter colored HST and then put in a gold thread to make 2 feathers that come together at the top and bottom representing the couple.
I did this all on free hand on my INNOVA///no pantographs or computer quilting.
Thank you for looking..I hope you all enjoy!

This is actually the bottom of the quilt where the feathers end
