Default It all started with twelve 8 1/2" squares....

It all started with twelve 8 1/2" squares of the prettiest fabric. I have no idea where they came from, I don't have yardage of this. I guess either someone passed them on to me or they came in a grab bag from the thrift store. They weren't enough for a quilt of their own but I really wanted to use them. I set them aside until I saw the perfect use.

I found it in this post, the 2nd quilt. The member kindly shared the pattern with me, it was a freebie found online.

http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...s-t274386.html

Once I dug into the pattern I realized I'd have to modify it because my blocks HAD to be based on my 8 1/2" squares. Then once I had the rows complete I found a different way to arrange them that I really liked. In the end, it vaguely resembles the pattern.

Of course this quilt gave me new scraps which I used to make the table runner below.

Thanks for looking!

Very pretty. Those mystery squares always lead me down the slippery slope!

Yeah, really!! It's so much easier to make a quilt from scratch than to design one that uses a leftover piece.

Very nicely worked out with a delicate design pretty fabric needing to be used banded by strips of liquorice allsorts! Very girly quilt and an original pattern.
