Amma, they are four 5.5 inch square backgrounds, with 5.5 contrasting color folded into a rectangle, the bottom is folded toward the edge. It is from the Cathedral Window Quilts book by Lynne Edwards...Folded Windmills. I use folded patterns as well as alot of the sashiko stitching in my quilts and totes. Makes a nice addition to the entire design.
