Amma, they are four 5.5 inch square backgrounds, with 5.5 contrasting color folded into a rectangle, the bottom is folded toward the edge. It is from the Cathedral Window Quilts book by Lynne Edwards...Folded Windmills. I use folded patterns as well as alot of the sashiko stitching in my quilts and totes. Makes a nice addition to the entire design.

your frog quilt is very cute, and the quilting definitely sets it off. My grown son and his wife are both frog lovers, I have attached a quilt I made for them as a wall hanging. The frog around the outside are all Australian native frogs, the forest scene in the middle just a cutsie picture I made up. It's all appliqued and hand quilted.
