This is the Lap size Family Pride quilt that I made at the same time as the small wall hanging. It too was finished and sandwiched about 3 years ago when my daughter was serving in Afghanistan. I had spray basted it with June Taylor spray baste. I had to respray the corners of just the back with the 505 that I now use.
The center star is a little loose, and I forgot to remove the chalk lines that I had drawn on there, sorry, I must remember to take care of that before it gets hung in our "quilt show" on Saturday

I quilted the "light" area with a free hand stars and loops stitching, I did diagonal lines in the red and outline stitched in the star.

I'm sorry if I mislead, it was stitched on the machine, I just did not have a pattern, or stencil or anything to work with. I kinda just drew on a piece of paper a thought and then just went at it. Unfortunately if you look really close, there are a couple of 4-pointed stars and a few that got the points crossed over etc. But I figure if someone has to look that close to find mistakes, it's their problem. You can't see my "goofs" unless you really look. The little red stars are a stitch on my machine.
I figure if I had time to hand quilt, I should finish up some of the cross stitch I have.

Our church has a luncheon for mothers day and we collect quilts from church attenders to hang all over the auditorium and then over in the worship center on Mother's day.
