Great scrappies and I'm sure the stash is going down. I'm also working on my stash and yes it is fun to be creative with what we have- after all that is how quilting began - using what we have and we certainly have much more to work with than our pioneer ladies before us.

I look with admiration at the scrap quilts on the board but I always wonder how do you know what to make out of the scraps. I can only make a quilt from a pattern, I guess because I am pretty much self and internet taught. If you have scraps and I do, and I cut those scraps into pieces how will I know that I will have enough for a certain project?

It can be fun shopping at home. Because of various reasons and the way the closet door opens, I have not seen the inside of my closet in at least two years or more. I know I have a tote full of batiks and who knows what else. Whenever I try to organize my stash, I can usually find a "surprise" or two and I'll go, I didn't remember this fabric. Part of the surprise is because when we downsized from a 3 bedroom house, where I had 2 sewing areas, one upstairs for winter and one downstairs in the basement where it was cooler during summer months; my DH and DS decided that I needed to get rid of ALL my fabric. No way Jose. Thanks to a dear friend who stood by me when I was purging, I was able to keep half my fabric. I should add that at least 2-3 totes of fabrics were from my sister's stash when she passed away. I'm working on getting that stash down so I can buy more fabric, of course. LOL.
