When I originally saw this thread, I just looked a little bit as I had to leave. Wow! I am impressed by the range and beauty of these quilts.

Found this old thread thanks to a picture posted on Pinterest. My avatar is a quilt of my own design, doodled while waiting for a jury to come up with a verdict. (I was a court reporter at the time.) Sitting on it is my Singapura kitty, Tasha (anybody else love Boris and Natasha?) Sadly she has gone over the rainbow bridge now but will live forever in my heart.

That was a great idea. Love seeing the avatar quilts in 'real' size. Thanks.

Here is my avatar. It is called Log Cabin with a Twist or Twisted Log Cabin. I can't remember the book that I got it from. It was a paper pieced block.

I started this for my nephew in law, who went blind before I could complete it. I made him quicker eagle quilt instead. This one went to my son. The design is all mine. I enlarged an eagle photo for the center. My only regret was that I used fabric from the stash rather than getting blues that would have worked better and of which I could have had more. I like the fact that Quiltpro allows me to distort paper pieced patterns.

I, too missed this post but love looking at everyone's quilts. Mine was made for the son of friends. My design. I copied characters from an Alaska coloring book found in the "tourist" gifts section of our local grocery store. Mom was born in Alaska and Dad in Texas, so I added the state silhouettes. Made this in 2012 and I can see I've improved a lot in my quilting since then.

I posted here, but it got lost. My dear nephew in law requested an eagle quilt. After I started it, I found that his already very poor vision was getting worse rapidly, so I made him a quicker eagle quilt. This one went to my son. It is my own design, called The Eagle flies at dawn. The eagle was based on a small photo that I expanded greatly needle turn appliqued. The paper pieced corner stones are from Quiltpro, stretched to fit the space. I regret that I did not have enough blue fabric in my stash to do the job as I wanted it.
