This is my first attempt at a baby quilt. There are alot of mistakes. I wish I would have outlined the giraffes in brown rather than gold. It is for my daughters best friend due in March with a baby boy. I hope she likes it. I do have one question though. When you stitch in the ditch do you use invisible thread? There were so many colors on the quilt I wasn't sure what color to use. I really need practice on that.
I also made matching burp towels for her. The back is blue so I used blue thread on the back. Any comments would be appreciated.

I think it looks great! I'm bookmarking this one. Did you design this, or use a pattern? If a pattern, can you tell us the name and designer? Thx.

That is adorable!!! I don't always try to match the thread color. I like it to stand out most of the time...as with you having so many colors, it would be hard to chose one color. I've never used invisible thread before so I can't tell you anything about it. Sorry. Your quilt is too cute!!!

Very cute! And nice work too. You could SID with blue thread, but invisible thread would work too. Remember it isn't REALLY invisible. I prefer a smoke colored invisible thread as it is less reflective. However most people don't recommend invisible thread for baby quilts as it is not as soft as cotton thread and any loose ends can be scratchy. You might consider using an autumn colors variegated thread.

quite lovely! i have used invisible thread and have been quite happy with it, i have heard others say they would never use it.
there are some better 'near invisible' threads out (not so plasticy) the names are 'wonderfil' and 'hemingworth'

How cute! Well done! I have used invisible thread on a couple of quilts I did on machine (I usually hand-quilt and hand-applique) when machine quilting ITD and machine appliqueing, useing clear on light colors, and smoke on darker. I prefer to use thread, though. I tend to use neutral colors that will blend with most colors on the top, but also, on the back

The quilt is from a Debbie Mumm book. I did modify it. It had more blocks. The border was plain. I thought it needed something else so I added the red blocks in the corner. It didn't call for the animals on it. The mommy loves jungle animals so I appliqued the heads on the top before I put the quilt together. I thought it needed something else
