Here is a picture of one of the bear paw blocks for my son's quilt. He's a tool maker and has an eye for perfection so it has to be perfect or he will see it. So, if you think I can do anything to make it better please let me know. It will be king size and have white sashing between the blocks with red corner blocks. Maybe a black border but I haven't decided about that yet. I would like to "quilt as you go" with this but don't want to put it together with hand stitching, so if anyone has any ideas on how to do it entirely on the machine I'd appreciate any input.
    Thanks

Your points look good. The black and white makes the block look crisp. Are all of blocks going to be the same or will you vary them?

Thanks, yes all the blocks will be the same. I was having some trouble getting them all to measure 14 1/2" but then I got a 1/4" foot and now they are all the same 14 1/2".

Looks pretty perfect to me too. You have done a great job. I'm sure it will be a wonderful quilt. He will love it to bits.

Ruthie, the picture on my avatar is a bear paw I just finished and I quilted it on my machine. It is a king size (115 x115) I quilted it in sections.....that is I started off by cutting the batting in 3 sections, pinned and quilted only the middle section and just rolled the fabric up on both sides. This eliminated the bulk that has to fit into the machine. I will be glad give you specific instructions if you are interested ;-)

Thanks all of you for your kind comments. I didn't realize that this would be as big a job as it has turned out to be.
Joyful_Noise, I would love specific instructions. You are welcome to e-mail me at [email protected] or pm me or if you want just post on here and let me know where. Thanks so much. BTW, how did you quilt yours? A specific pattern or meander or what?
