I did mention previously that I was going to make a lap quilt for each of my 4 lady boating friends birthdays. Well it was Julie's birthday this weekend and she was delighted with it. Its her narrowboat in the photo and its blue and gold paintwork and the inside furnishings are too so that is were I got the idea for this quilt from. The other photo I took from the back of my boat just to prove that it does not always rain in England, though we got our share of it today, the photo was taken at 9pm so as you can imagine a perfect night for a birthday bbq.

The hat was given to me on my birthday last year from the gang so now whoever has a birthday has to wear it. There is a button on the side that when pressed plays the tune Happy birthday to you, the husbands look good wearing it too, but I wont embarrass them by posting a photo.

Beautiful quilt and I love the hat.

That picture reminds me of a place I visited when I was last in England called Slimbridge, it was so beautiful. Is that the place you are in the picture??

Butterflyspain, the photo was taken just outside of a small town called Boroughbrige, about 7 miles west of Ripon, North Yorkshire. Slimbridge is in Gloucestershire I believe, I have been there but not on a boat, Peter Scotts wild bird sanctuary is there..
The canal we are on goes onto a river through York then you can go out to sea at Hull.

Loretta, where abouts on the Kennet and Avon canal were you. I know it as I family in that part of England, its about 300 miles from me though. I had a lovely narrowboat holiday in Wales, very relaxing.
Our gang have a lot of fun, could be due to the alcohol but mainly down to the good company, lovely way to chill out after a hard weeks work.
