Default Boy Scout Wall Hanging

Someone contacted me and said that she would like me to make a wall hanging for her husband with his old boy scout camp shirts. She also said that she made him rip them up to use as rags before she thought about having something done with them. She dropped them off with my mom and my mom told me before I even saw them that I definately had my work cut out for me. I accepted the challenge and I am so happy with the results. So was the woman who asked me to make this. By luck a week before she asked me to do this I was at Hobby Lobby and found Boy Scout Fabric for $2 a yard and since both of my brothers had been in boy scouts I bought 3 yards of each and said I will find something to do with it. Well didn't take long to find something.

The blue strip at the top of the back was my first attempt at a rod pocket. I was very thankful for online tutes this week. I also struggle with my binding corners but I found a great tute to help with that. I got so excited when I was done and informed my husband that I finally have pretty corners.

What a great idea. I still have my son's badges etc. Now, I know what I can do with them. Thanks.

It turned out great. My 3 sons were in the scouts and my oldest got his Eagle award.

You did a great job with the old shirts. It will be a very special memento for the recipient. It does feel nice to learn how to do things that are new to us!
