Can a large Throw be a wedding gift?
#12
I a couple of years ago when i had several weddings in one summer - i started making his 'n hers couch quilts. They are usually about 52-54 x 70-72 - Usually one is girlie and one masculine..... I always put a note in the card that says some version of "marriage is all about sharing - but sometimes you just want your own blankie." All have been very well received - and i can do them both in less time than it takes for a bed sized....and i don't have to worry about what size their bed is / will be

I actually give large lap quilts often. they are a little less expensive for me, but I also think they more often get used. a lap quilt can always get used on the couch, in a bedroom, in a rec room, a picnic or a ball game. very versatile

I prefer giving a throw size quilt for a wedding gift. Bedroom styles change down through the years but a throw is useful no matter the decor. But that's just my opinion. :-) I've given 4 as wedding gifts, so I guess I really do believe that. Lol!

My daughter requested a small throw. On the back I embroidered (by hand) their names and the date of the wedding, and then circling out I included the names of everyone in attendance - with family closest.
For my step-son and his new wife I am having signature blocks for the wedding and am making them a a 60" square quilt and will put the signature blocks on the back incorporated into a darker fabric.
The point being - you can do anything you want! It is a gift !!
