Absolutely! Often times a full quilt for the bed does not get used as their preferences in decorating changes or is not all the way both of them, so to speak. But a throw for the sofa or chair is great and seems to get more use in the long haul. Picnic quilts are great for wedding gift also.

Friend of mine got a wall hanging which was smaller than a throw.

yes, I think that a throw is a much better size and more useful than a bed quilt -- that will be a great wedding gift!!

My grown kids use their quilts to curl up on the couch with or spread on the floor to play with the kids.

Of course a throw would make a nice wedding gift. We keep several in our family room, and one in each bedroom too. My husband likes to keep our house cold. The rest of us like to use a throw when we watch tv, or across the feet on the bed.

Some people chose specific colors and schemes for their bedrooms, and it would be difficult and possibly unwelcome to try to make a quilt for their bed. But who can't use a lap quilt for snuggling on the couch? I say go for it!

I chose a Christmas throw for my niece's September wedding. She already had a household established and didn't NEED anything. The quilt did not have to be returned or was it a duplicate. She loved it
