Hi Z. The double slice layer cake is a great quilt for beginners like me. It is made with a layer cake except that since I wash all my fabrics, I used a FQ and cut my own ten inch squares. This is a link to the video I followed. The hardest part is laying out the blocks in a pleasing way and making sure they are turned correctly.

Great looking quilt for a young girl. I'm sure the turned block is only noticable to your eyes.

Hi Thimblebug. Thank you for your kind comment. I had it quilted by Jacquie Cotton ( I think you know her). She did a lovely job in a nice leaf pattern. The quilt was far too heavy for me to handle at my tender young age. I am doing some FMQ now and have quilted some lap quilts - just not ready for the big stuff yet.

Very pretty "girly" quilt. No one will ever know that 1 block is placed wrong. I can't even spot it. Thanks for sharing.

Love the quilt does the pattern have a name? Don't know about some of u but when I c a quilt I like its usually the fabric that pulls me in to it, but never can find the fabric that person used..
