Missouri Star Double Slice Layer Cake Quilt

I wanted to try out the Double Slice Layer Cake tutorial that I saw on Missouri Star's a short time ago. I thought it would be good to test out on a small scale first to see if I liked it before making a larger quilt. I thought I would like to have some baby quilts on hand and also some to donate, so this turns out to be a perfect option for that.

I cut the 10" blocks from my stash in pinks, greens & yellows to test it out. The blocks finish up at 9". I added a 3" border. It is a very quick and easy quilt pattern. I love it! I've already mentally imagined it with other fabrics in my stash. If you are looking for a quick and easy pattern to try, give this a shot!

Missouri Star Quilt Company is a good source for different patterns and information. I use them a lot. You have a wonderful stash. This is just a perfect quilt to throw over your shoulders when you need just a little something on those early fall nights.

I want to do this in Black and Red for my son's Christmas gift. He got the first one I made 20 years ago, and he wants another now that he is grown up.

Beautiful quilt and colors, looks yummy.

I have made two of the double silce quilts, pics are on here. I got confused on the first one, had to make a R,W&B to prove to myself I could follow directions and do it right. I did on that one.

I just finished this pattern in 2 small layer cakes (20 pcs each) in a Riley Blake set of fabrics and I love it!! Goes together really quick and looks great. I have the top pieced but don't have backing or batting on yet.
Families are like old quilts....although they tend to unravel at times...each can be stitched back together with love.

love it!i'm making one using 10" batik squares from connecting threads. bought one of their "layer cakes" (which has half the amount of other brands) and my DD liked it so much, she asked me to make it bigger. just got the other fabric in! will be finishing it up and then will give it to her at christmas to take back to collge.
