I have finished 36 Dresden Plates for a large quilt. The Dresden are 12" round. I put them on a white sheet so I could arrange them better. I was going to get white or off white fabric and make 14 to 15" squares for each Dresden Plate to go into. The Dresden outer border would have brown stitching so if I use the white, the off white of the Dresden would not hide within the background. I have to decide on the backing but was going to stop at Joann Fabrics with the top once I finish it and pick something that would look nice with the front. What do people think?

This is the layout of the Dresden (36 of them) for the front of a large quilt

Here are some closeup of one portion of the quilt attached to a sheet and left side is the wall where I stuck straight pins to keep everything together.

Great job, I like the dresden plate but cant figure out how you do the rounded part...it is probably easier then I am making it out to be.. I seem to always make a mountain out of a mole hill when trying to do something in quilting..it maybe easy but I make it harder then it is..lol thanks for sharing

I have been saving my brown scraps to make a Dresden. Little scared to try, looks hard, but can't wait to get started.

Dresden plate is one of my favorite patterns. I think your choice of off white is good.

Beautiful quilt. I love Dresden Plates and plan on making a quilt one of these days. I love your color choices.

It is going to be so beautiful. I have that ruler and plan to use it soon. I beleive it comes with a template for the curved edges in the pattern.
