What a nice quilt to make for your SIL. Dresden plates are timeless and your quilt is beautiful.

Great quilt, great history. Having been born in 1940 and the only child in a household of adults I was always into the things adults were working on so I wanted to tell you I remember sugar bags in the 40s. Also flour came in nice white fabric bags. We used many flour sacks for dish cloths. In fact my mother had saved a lot of these sacks and as late as the late 80s and early 90s hemmed these and gave them to me. I am still using them for dish cloths and love them. Chicken feed came in printed fabric and I have had many a feed sack dress. Now I am finding "flour sack" dish cloths at Wal-Mart.

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments... This was not an easy project for me. As with everything we do I guess, I could do a better job now. Learned a lot but not eager to do another Dresden Plate anytime soon. I will post again after I deliver it and let you know what SIL says...
