I am making a simple super 9 block for my daughter. She picked out the Cars material, her latest obssession. :-)

I was thinking of doing one FMQ pattern in the blue area and another in the red. I was going to do big stippling/meandering on the blue parts. What should I do in the red? I am pretty new to FMQ, so it can't be too difficult. I am also going to SITD.

Can you do like "exhaust clouds"? That would be fun...like smaller on one end, billowing into big clouds?

I like the smoke idea too, not too different from meandering. Have you considered using a varigated thread in red and blue and doing an all over design, rather than trying to 2 different ones? I think for me it might be hard to switch from one pattern to another, by the end I would have just one thing going that is a blend of the 2.

I agree with the all over meandering for this one, mainly because the fabric print is so very busy. You won't really see the quilting too much. Just IMHO.! :-)

I love this idea and it would not be much more difficult from the meander
