    Try soaking it in Oxyclean, I have found that usually takes out most stains and doesn't destroy any fabrics or floss

    If it is rust on the quilt. Go to the laundry section of your grocery store and buy rust out. It's a clear liquid that when you put it on rust on cloth the rust magically disappears before your eyes. It's easy on fabric. I always keep a bottle around.
