Here is a drawing of a quilt I'd like to make for my grandson. If I do it right it will be an optical illusion. I will start on it after I finish the sunflower quilt I'm working on. I'm planning on doing it with strips; the original says to do it with HSTs. What do you think?

The drawing is one that I did for a quilt I want to make for him. He doesn't know he's getting one, it'll be a total surprise. Hope to have it done by Christmas, along with all the other stuff I'll have to get done by then. You know how it is.

    That looks GREAT!!!
I think I would do strips instead of HST's. It'll cut down on seams, which cuts down on fabric amounts and makes hand quilting (if that's what you're doing) easier.
HST's would be easier piecing, tho. But I like to do things with the fewest seams, especially if it's bigger and I have to hand quilt.
Can't wait to see progress. Keep us posted. :D

I'm not a big fan of HST either. I've been toying with the idea of doing a zig zag quilt in strips and found this web site.

You may want to look at the Chevron pattern on quilterscache.com. I made one block for a sampler and loved it. That's on my list for a full quilt some time. haha. It was made with hst. I love easy.
