I made this over the weekend for my Sister's B'day. It is a (slight) variation of the Turning Twenty pattern, 16" blocks with a 5" border to "float" the blocks. It is QUITE easy and a nice way to allow your mind to rest while continuing to do what you love. Her dining table will seat 12, so I made it large/long enough to fill the entire center. Also, I used 100% cotton batting so she can place hot dishes on top of it if she so chooses. The first pic is the runner, and the second shows the fabric I chose for the backing. I will quilt in the ditch around each block, then each square within. I will add a feather "V" in each setting triangle and a scalloped feather around the border. This will not be quilted heavily because it will not show well from either side. Next weekend... back to the "Star of Bethlehem" (I'll post pics when I'm finished with it as well).

Thank you both. When I first started pulling out fabrics for it, she looked at me like I was crazy; when I showed her the runner top Sunday afternoon, she was so excited, & a bit upset because she couldn't take it home right then. She did go buy some wide cream colored wire ribbon to place around her decorative table items (candle sticks, etc) which I believe will bring it all together beautifully! (She is so talented like that!!)
