Nana thank you for your compliments. I modified the pattern slightly for the baby quilt and fussy cut the bears out of the backing material and then appliqued them onto the hexagons.
I got the pattern out of a magazine called Quilting and Embroidery dated Spring 2006 it was put out by McCalls Quick Quilts and Creative Machine Embroidery. The title was Vintage Meets Modern and it was made of Kimono Silk fabrics. I still have the book. I do not know where you might find the pattern on line as I have never seen it before or since.

    Nanabird,
The book with your great quilt pattern came yesterday and I can tell I am going to enjoy it. :D I am wondering, though, did you use 10 1/2 inch squares or make them smaller? I got the impression that your blocks were not as big as those in the book, especially since you used more blocks to make your quilt.

I also had the thought that this block would be really cute with embroidered bugs or animals in the center of each block. Anyway, thanks for your help, you enabler you. I look forward to trying the pattern.

My local library does not have it in their system :(
I'm now trying my sister's library system...
Maybe I'll get lucky and she'll be able to get it for me. I just emailed a friend about your quilt. I believe her and I might try to figure it out one day soon!!
