After "wrastling" with my latest quilt yesterday, I am going to put my thinking cap on and build myself a similar support system. Love your quilt and kudos to your DH.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments and encouragement!

I've seen people build them from 1" PVC piping pieces put together in a similar configuration to mine and also it saw someone use a purchased freestanding coat/clothing rack. Some people put hooks right into their ceiling, but I like the portability of freestanding rack.

I'd seen Leah Day's idea as well, but didn't want to put hooks into the finished ceiling of my sewing room. This is another of those "Why couldn't I think of that" idea. Even buying a portable clothing rack would be less hassle than messing with putting hooks in the ceiling. And doesn't everyone have bungie cords laying around?

Your DH is a keeper, that looks like it will be very helpful. Your quilt looks wonderful too. Thank you for sharing BOTH!
