I haven't read the entire thread, so someone else may have already made this comment. Hanging your beautiful old quilt could cause some of the stitching to pull out and/or break from the weight of the quilt. This quilt is probably rather heavy because of the many small pieces. I suggest that you display it on a bed elsewhere in your house. Do you have a guestroom? That would be the perfect place to show it off. BUT I would put it soewhere else when guests are using the room! Alternate suggestion: display it on a bench at the foot of your bed - refolding it from time to time, so it doesn't get damaged along the folds.
