I was wondering the same thing, I found one in with my Mother's quilting items and had no clue what she used it for.

What a handy hub! I love it when they make stuff to make our "hobby" more functional...and it makes them such a part of it. gotta love that too..

when you're getting to end of the piece and it's trying to move sideways, you hold it in place with this. so you're straight all the way to the very last stitch

You're a genius! Or at least thinking better than me. I've been crocheting around the fleece blankets to use as prayer shawls for babies, and I've had a terrible time making the holes! I'd tried so many things, but never thought of an awl. Thanks so much for the hint!
